Stress is a normal and inevitable part of life. But it’s also incredibly damaging to our minds and bodies. After being a single parent for nine years, In the Details host Karen Allen has developed several healthy habits for dealing with stress. Today, she talks about recentering yourself to managing stress levels before you become overwhelmed, learning to embrace change and daily disruptions, normalizing rest and being more mindful.
Mindfulness is central to all three of Allen’s tips, and that ability to live in the present is an important part of noticing how we’re living and taking time to care for ourselves in order to reduce and manage stress. In this episode, Allen discusses the benefits of meditation and how there’s no “right” way to do it, letting things flow and taking the time to do something relaxing for at least 30 minutes each day.
