Neuroplasticity and Its Impact on Personal Growth

Do you know our brains are changing and making connections when we try new things

Learning this changed everything for In the Details host Karen Allen. It gave her the confidence to own the direction of her life and take more responsibility for her way of thinking. This week, she discusses neuroplasticity—the ability of the brain to change and adapt—and its effect on personal growth.

“By forming a new habit in your daily life, you’re not just building a new routine, but you are reprogramming your mind with the positive effects of those new behaviors,” she says. She discusses how activities like playing the guitar and practicing meditation are building her brain in new ways.

“If you do something new over and over again, the brain begins to form new neural pathways that will support and reinforce the behavior,” she explains. “The more you practice new habits that support your growth, the easier they will become.”

Forming these new habits benefits health and happiness. Allen discusses the effects of mindfulness on the brain, unlearning old habits and taking care of your brain’s overall health.
