Jen Hatmaker is a New York Times best-selling author of multiple books, including For the Love and Of Mess and Moxie. Her newest book is Fierce, Free and Full of Fire: The Guide to Being Glorious You. She is also the founder of Legacy Collective, a community of givers that distributes grants to organizations globally.
Before Jen became a New York Times best-seller, she wrote eight books that she would not call commercially successful, but she is thankful for them, anyway. A learning and growing experience, Jen found that if you stay curious about the things you love, you’ll create success in an area that you are passionate about.
When the success starts to happen, though, it can be easy to compromise other areas of your life, so it is important to stay connected with your curiosity. Listen to the full episode to hear Jen’s story and how she chose her integrity over career progress, and found a more fulfilling form of success because of that.
A few lessons from Jen…
- Understand your beliefs and integrity. Use that as your foundation and always favor that when you are in a position that asks you to make a compromise. It will serve you better in the long run.
- Determine what you love to do and practice it. You don’t need to quit your day job or spend hours each day working on it. Just practice it when you can and get better at it. The success will come.
